Couple’s Opting For Cannabis This Valentine’s Day: 2026 Gift Guide

Copied!

Cannabeyour valentine? Valentine’s Day spending is expected to be at an all time high in 2026, with a National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics report projecting that this year’s spending will total over $29 billion in the Unites States alone.

A 2023 survey by Wired Research in collaboration with Verano Holdings indicated that 61% of Americans planned to incorporate cannabis in their Valentine’s Day plans. This percentage is likely even higher in 2026 as global cannabis access continues to grow. Considering over half of the American consumer market plan to participate in Valentine’s Day festivities, this is a significant retail period for the cannabis industry.

Cannabis brands are stepping up to the occasion with an abundance of romance-themed products ranging from massage oils and bath bombs to heart-shaped edibles and special edition flower strains to commemorate the special day.

“Valentine’s Day is a cherished holiday that resonates with many Americans, as seen with expected record-breaking spending this year,” remarked Katherine Cullen, NRF Vice President of Industry and Consumer Insights, in the January 27, 2026 press release.

An online poll found that roughly one quarter of respondents believe using cannabis products will encourage a romantic energy. Additionally, 25% of those surveyed reported that cannabis makes their sex lives better. Similarly, n a 2019 study by the Journal of Sexual Medicine, over half of the participants claimed that said they had changed their sexual experience with cannabis, while 75% reported that being high made them more satisfied in their personal life.

The key findings of the study include:

→ 19 million adult Americans will not drink alcohol on Valentine’s Day, but instead will smoke marijuana

→ Almost one in four American adults think weed makes them more sexually attractive

→ Men are more likely than women (66% vs. 57%) to plan for cannabis use on Valentine’s Day

→ Gen Z and Millennials are more likely than Gen X and Boomers to consume cannabis on Valentine’s Day (70% vs. 57%)

→ Adults in the US who don’t have children are less likely to use or give cannabis as a gift

→ Northeastern American adults are more likely than people in other parts of the USA to use cannabis on Valentine’s Day

As cannabis becomes further normalized and widely available, it has evolved into a popular thoughtful and potentially classy Valentine’s Day gift, signifying that traditional gifts such as the stereotypical flowers and chocolate are evolving. In 2026, the cannabis industry will have products designed to improve mood, and enhance ritual and connection. These products are far from novelty items and serve distinct purposes in our daily lives. This shift illustrates that society as a whole is changing in terms of how cannabis is used in everyday life, ritual, and private moments.
